Nat
No recent activity, as usual. So bad with blogging. Actually, I don't want to be good, seems like a waste of time, even though I enjoy really GOOD blogs. Hm.
I started drawing Natalie Portman for a competition for the Little White Lies magazine, a fun magazine about movies and trash (I think this is how they advertised it) It is the Indy side of film reviews. Anyways, it is quite good and interesting design-wise. For their competition they ask people to draw a cover of one of their top 5 movies of 2011, out of which I had only seen (and liked) 2: Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy and Black Swan. I was tempted by Garry Oldman's character, but then I realised I actually LOVED the Black Swan, so it would be the better choise.
In the making I found out that I have to pay 15 pounds for entry. Hm, not sure if I am willing to. I might? Or not? Will decide on Friday!
However, it was extremely nice actually finishing the piece - I am trying to do that more these days. Not as much as I want to, but maybe I should learn to know my limits. No, don't like the sound of that - sounds so boring, having limits. This might give you a hint why I liked the Black Swan - in a miiiinor scale I identify with Nina. Almost obsessive passion for what I do. Perfectionism. Readiness to sacrifice things for what I love. Vulnerability. Innocent and immaturity, with the occasional visits of the 'black swan'. On a minor scale, luckily, yet enough to be touched by the character. And slightly, just slightly scared.
I tried really hard to embody the emotions that Natalie Portman brilliantly conveyed with her performance. So here it is:

Anni's Dragons
A birthday gift for my previous editor. She's awesome - she hired me when I was 16 to illustrate her magazine. Her fate in me inspired me to give all when I was drawing and believe that even without any art education I still had talent! So she probably even influenced my decision to study design... So, a big happy b-day to her.

You are not the first

There are very few ‘firsts’ these days. Countless others have started studios, freelanced and requested internships. It can be done. #the50

ME?
I don't think I look like that, and I don't have a window like that, and I don't live in the centre of Sofia and I don't have pinkish bits in my hair. Does it still qualify as a portrait? It is, rather, a dream portrait. Since I visited my friend I have been craving to have a window like that:

He lives on the 12th floor or something, the last one, and he can climb up on the ceiling. The view from there is breathtking, you have the whooole Sofia underneath you and around you, along with Vitosha, the sky and the stars... He had two parties on the roof and they were unique.

Chromones
And now, a drawing of my friend chilling in a shoe. As you see, colors rock my world as well ;)
